Vacancy: Community Chef(Full Time)

Job Title: Community Chef

Reports to: Head of Operations and Development (supported by Community Food Project Lead)

Location: WHALE Arts, Wester Hailes, Edinburgh

Contracted Hours: 21 hours a week (part-time) – this will include Saturdays

Contract: Fixed Term Contract (12 months with potential for extension)

Salary and Benefits: £19,000 (full-time) / £11,400 (21 hours a week)

Role Purpose: The community chef will be responsible for cooking the Community Café menu and our weekly Community Meal. They will coordinate and work with kitchen volunteers, and will support the Community Food Project Lead in the day-to-day operations of the Community Food projects.

Main Duties:

  • To support the Community Food Project Lead on the café and community meal projects
  • To cook a limited, but high quality ‘made from fresh’ menu for the café
  • Prepare, organise and cook a nutritious, plant-based and sustainable community meal for 40-60 local people every Friday
