Helping museums surviveCaithness Horizons Museum exhibit

We work in partnership with Museums Galleries Scotland to assist the museum sector improve their fundraising skills and to support their boards through training and advice.

Here an exhibit from Caithness Horizons Museum on the history of Dounreay. The museum received a matching New Arts Sponsorship grant .

The best way to maximise the benefits we can bring is by becoming a member and you can find out more here

Our current museum members include The Abbotsford Trust (Abbotsford House), Carnegie Dunfermline Trust (Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum), Groam House Museum, Hunterian Art Gallery & Museum, Museum of the University of St Andrews and The Stirling Smith Art Gallery & Museum.

However you do not need to be a member to attend our regular training sessions in sponsorship and other fundraising approaches, and board trustee best practice, or to use our New Arts Sponsorship scheme to encourage businesses to sponsor your activities.

Many cultural organisations benefit from our facilitated Board days and if one was of interest you should speak to Museums Galleries Scotland to see if they would be willing to support the cost.

Last year in association with Museums Galleries Scotland we introduced a special museums category to our Arts & Business Scotland Awards. We are delighted that MGS are sponsoring the Enterprising Museum Award again in 2013. The award will be made to an innovative or entrepreneurial project that has delivered an ambitious high-impact museum related experience.
