Scottish Ballet today announced that Check-It Scaffold Services is continuing their support of the Scotland’s national dance company by sponsoring the creation of the Company’s new production of The Fairy’s Kiss (Le Baiser de la Fée). Arts & Business Scotland has provided match-funding for the second year in a row through the new Culture & Business Fund Scotland, which aims to encourage active collaboration between business and the cultural sector by matching business sponsorship of cultural projects pound for pound.
Kenneth MacMillan’s original choreography of The Fairy’s Kiss (Le Baiser de la Fée) has been brought back to life in a stunning new production which opens Friday (6 October) at the Theatre Royal, Glasgow.
As a charity, Scottish Ballet relies heavily on public and private funding to continue as a pioneering, ground-breaking organisation. Check-It Scaffold previously supported Scottish Ballet’s Swan Lake in 2016, which received support from Arts & Business Scotland’s predecessor fund, the New Arts Sponsorship Grants programme. This unique arts sponsorship was recognised for its innovation earlier this year, winning the Business Creativity award at the Arts & Business Scotland Annual Awards.
Scottish Ballet CEO Artistic Director Christopher Hampson commented:
“We are thrilled to be partnering once again with Check-it Scaffold Services and would like to take this opportunity to thank the company and Arts & Business Scotland for their continued support of Scottish Ballet”.
Head of Programmes at Arts & Business Scotland Carl Watt added:
“A key objective of our new Culture & Business Fund Scotland is to encourage long term collaboration between businesses and cultural organisations by match funding ongoing partnerships in their second and third years. Check It Scaffold Services’ support of Scottish Ballet last year was a resounding success, and I am delighted that this partnership has secured funding for a second year.”
The Fairy’s Kiss (Le Baiser de la Fée) and The Rite of Spring opens this Friday (6 October) at Theatre Royal Glasgow. For tickets, press passes and further information please visit: https://www.scottishballet.co.uk/event/autumn-2017View all news
