Laura McIntyre

Since graduating from University of Glasgow, Laura has worked across the arts, heritage and third sector. Her interests focus on communications, community engagement, volunteer programmes and enriching the cultural offering within rural areas.

She is Community Engagement Coordinator for Alchemy Film & Arts, which is based in Hawick in the Scottish Borders. Prior to this Laura worked with a development trust, focusing on the regeneration of a remote, rural island in Argyll. As Centre Development Manager of the £1.25 million project the Atlantic Islands Centre. Here she curated a diverse arts and exhibition programme, amongst other responsibilities. 

Laura’s marketing and communications background was gained during her time as Marketing Manager at Glasgay! Festival and Merchant City Tourism & Marketing Cooperative. Through these sister organisations her portfolio includes projects with the Scottish Government; Glasgow City Council; Glasgow Life; the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival; Luminate Festival; The Arches; Tron Theatre; The Citizens Theatre; Glasgow Film Theatre and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Previous board experience includes four years on Toonspeak Young Persons Theatre.

As a writer her work has been published, performed and exhibited across the UK in anthologies, magazines, arts venues, theatres, museums and festivals. She is originally from Glasgow and now lives in Kelso, in the Scottish Borders with her husband Roger and dog Oscar.
