OSCR – The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator provides guidance and advice including a range of publications including on the duties of charity trustees, accounting guidance etc.
Care, Diligence & Skill (PDF) – the 6th edition was published by Scottish Arts Council in 2008, and is an indispensable corporate governance handbook for arts organisations covering everything board members need to know about their role and responsibilities - from legal duties to the operation of boards. It was previously available from the old Scottish Arts Council site.
SCVO - The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is the national body for Scotland’s charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises, and carries information on organisational structures, roles and responsibilities, committees, constitutions etc.
ICSA (the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) is the international qualifying and Membership body for the Chartered Secretary profession and a recognised authority on corporate governance and compliance. The website carries a lot of useful guidance including for the not for profit and charitable sector. Please note that although there may be some slight variations in charity regulations between different countries a lot of the principles of good governance remain the same.
Scotland’s Third Sector Governance Forum – Arts & Business Scotland is a member of Scotland’s Third Sector Governance Forum which brings together a range of people with knowledge and expertise in governance issues to work together to improve governance and leadership in the sector through a strategic approach. The website has a range of useful materials.
